Lamis Mohamed Bouker, 49, is an architect, a university lecturer in architecture and urban planning, and a trainer accredited by GIZ and the Ministry of Local Government. With over twenty years of experience, she brings expertise in urban planning, training, leadership and management. The centre was established in response to two needs: a lack of comfortable spaces where students can work and study, and growing demand for specialised training close to the city centre. SheLeads helped her strengthen her knowledge of finance, business and marketing to manage her first private venture.
Company activities
Khatwa offers daily, weekly and monthly memberships for work and study, rents out its rooms for workshops and events, and provides practical training tailored to local market needs. The business is registered, generates revenue and has created two additional jobs. Its main challenge remains covering the costs of rent, salaries and promotion. Lamis aims to expand its customer base, add printing and scanning services, improve internet connectivity and eventually obtain international accreditation for some of its training courses.
