In Gaza, journalists document events as they unfold, often while living through them. Their reporting is essential, yet producing it to professional standards and getting it heard beyond Gaza remains a daily challenge. Gaza's Voices was created to respond to that challenge. Today, Super Novae is preparing the launch of its second phase.

A programme built with strong partners

Gaza's Voices 2 is funded by Frontlines for Peace and implemented in partnership with AFP and Press House Palestine. Throughout October, the partners finalised their arrangements, clarified roles and responsibilities, and prepared the selection process for the programme's 25 participating journalists.

Five months to learn, practise and publish

The partners designed a structured syllabus for a five-month journalism incubator. It combines three formats:

The programme covers written journalism, photography, video and podcast production. It also gives a central place to verification, editorial standards and journalist safety, all critical when reporting from a crisis zone.

A newsroom to put skills into practice

A dedicated newsroom at Press House Palestine will give participants a place to apply what they learn. There, they will produce stories, build their portfolios and pursue publication opportunities, with the aim of bringing their work to wider audiences.

Reliable information starts with independent journalists

These preparations coincided with Global Media and Information Literacy Week, held from 24 to 31 October. Super Novae took part with its campaign “Many Voices, One Message”. In a series of reels, our team and a journalist from the first phase of Gaza's Voices asked what it takes to verify information during a crisis, and who tells the story when a crisis hits.

The message is the one at the heart of Gaza's Voices: reliable information starts with independent journalists, and with each of us checking before we share.

What comes next

The groundwork laid in October sets up a coordinated programme that responds to journalists' professional needs and to the challenges of reporting from Gaza and being heard internationally. We will share the next steps, starting with the selection of participants, in the coming weeks.
