Entrepreneurship journey
Manal Abdelghani Al-Ghweil, 56, has an artistic background in photography and drawing. She decided to transform her skills in traditional pastry-making into an independent business, with the aim of covering her essential expenses, particularly her rent. During the early stages, she faced challenges related to the high cost of ingredients and the lack of a suitable production space. The incubation programme provided her with new ideas and a more positive approach to structuring and developing her project.
Company activities
The business produces traditional pastries, with particular attention given to product quality. It currently relies on Manal’s personal efforts, is not yet formally registered and does not generate a regular income. The project initially involved two female collaborators but has not yet created any additional jobs.
Manal aims to establish a dedicated production workshop, expand her production capacity and introduce her pastries across Libya. Access to finance remains challenging due to the complexity and length of application procedures.
